Dear Parents and Children

This year we would like to focus on growth of the school staff and children. We hope each child will grow and learn to their full potential and know how truly valuable they are. Teachers have done some training over the holidays to improve their understanding and thinking so that they can promote these skills with the students in classes through their hard work, attention to each child and respectful interaction with all. We aim to have a growth mindset both for ourselves and our students believing that we can always grow in confidence, obedience, faithfulness, in our thirst for knowing and that we can continue to become more mature people. We also want to firmly believe that in this journey of growth we have the grace of God. We thank God that each of you are part of LAMB School for the year 2019-20 and we ask His help for us to continue this work.  

প্রিয় অভিভাবক এবং ছেলে-মেয়েরা,

এ বছরে আমরা সার্বিকভাবে স্কুল স্টাফ এবং ছেলেমেয়েদের বৃদ্ধি লাভে দৃষ্টি নিবদ্ধ রাখতে চাই । আমাদের আশা এই যে, প্রত্যেক ছেলেমেয়ে তাদের সম্ভাব্য সামর্থ্যের সর্বোচ্চটা শিখবে এবং তারা কতটা মূল্যবান তা জানবে। শিক্ষকগণ ছুটিতে কিছু ট্রেনিং সম্পন্ন করেছেন যাতে তাদের বোঝার এবং চিন্তা করবার দক্ষতার বৃদ্ধি ঘটে এবং যেন তারা এই সকল দক্ষতা ক্লাসে প্রতিটি শিক্ষার্থীর প্রতি কঠোর পরিশ্রম, মনোযোগ এবং শ্রদ্ধাশীল মিথষ্ক্রিয়ার সাথে ব্যবহার করেন। আমাদের লক্ষ্য, যেন আমরা নিজেরা এবং শিক্ষার্থীগণ উভয়ই বিকাশমান মানসিকতা লাভ করি, এটা বিশ্বাসের মধ্য দিয়ে যে আমরা সর্বদা আত্নবিশ্বাসে, বাধ্যতাই, বিশ্বস্ততায়, জানার তৃষ্ণায় এবং ক্রমাগত উন্নতি লাভ করতে পারি এবং পরিপক্ব হয়ে উঠতে পারি। আমরা এর সাথে দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করতে চাই যে আমাদের এই যাত্রায় ঈশ্বর আমাদের সঙ্গে আছেন ।

Staff

We welcome Jessica Ford Powell, our former student who is going to be a short-term volunteer teacher in our school. She is from England. Many of you might know her father and mother, Ken and Vikki Ford-Powell former staff at LAMB.  

We are thankful to God that Uncle Christian, Aunty April, Aunty Heather and Aunty Charlotte had safe travels on their extended leave, meeting their family members, relatives and friends and have come back safely.

আমাদের প্রাক্তন ছাত্রী জেসিকা ফোর্ড পাওয়েলকে স্বাগত জানাই, তিনি আমাদের স্কুলে স্বল্পমেয়াদী শিক্ষক হিসেবে কাজ করবেন। তিনি ইংল্যান্ডের অধিবাসী। তাঁর বাবা কেইন ফোর্ড পাওয়েলকে আপনারা অনেকে চিনে থাকবেন।

আমরা ঈশ্বরকে ধন্যবাদ দেই, আংকেল খ্রীষ্টেন, আন্টি এপ্রিল, আন্টি হেদার এবং আন্টি শার্লোট লম্বা ছুটিতে গিয়ে পরিবারের সদস্য, আত্মীয়স্বজন ও বন্ধুবান্ধবদের সাথে সাক্ষাত শেষে নিরাপদে ফিরে এসেছেন।  

Materials

We have given out several items to your children on the first day of school. This includes a homework diary with the school rules in English and Bangla. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these.

 Parent Teacher Meeting

During August, we look forward to getting started on our work and finding new routines at school. In September we hope to meet with all parents, to further coordinate our efforts towards your children’s growth and learning so that they may become all that God has made them to be. We aim to start the meetings in second week of September. You will be informed about meeting dates in September. 

শিক্ষক অভিভাবক সাক্ষাৎকার

আগষ্ট মাসে, স্কুলে আমরা আমাদের কাজ শুরু করার এবং নতুন নিত্যকার্যসূচি পাওয়ার অপেক্ষা করছি ।

আশা করছি যে সেপ্টেম্বরে আমরা সকল অভিভাবকের সাথে সাক্ষাৎ করতে পারব, যেন আমাদের প্রচেষ্টার সাথে আপনাদের সন্তানের বৃদ্ধি ও শেখার সমন্বয় করতে পারি এবং ঈশ্বর তাদের যা হবার জন্য সৃষ্টি করেছেন যেন ঠিক তাই হতে সাহায্য করি । আমরা সাক্ষাতকারগুলো সেপ্টেম্বরের দ্বিতীয় সপ্তাহে শুরু করতে চাই । সেপ্টেম্বর –এ সাক্ষতাকারগুলোর তারিখগুলো আপনাদের জানিয়ে দেওয়া হবে ।

National Mourning Day

The school is going to commemorate the death of the father of the nation on 15 August 2019.  On this solemn occasion we ask that you please send your child to school by 8:40. We hope to finish our activities by 11:00.

জাতীয় শোক দিবস

স্কুল ১৫ আগষ্ট ২০১৯ তারিখে জাতীর পিতার মৃত্যু যথাযথ ভাবগাম্ভীর্যতার সাথে শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মরণ করবে । অনুগ্রহ করে আপনাদের সন্তানকে স্কুলে  ৮:৪০ এর মধ্যে পাঠিয়ে দিবেন । আমরা আমাদের অ্যাক্টিভিটিগুলো বেলা ১১:০০ এর মধ্যে শেষ করতে চাই ।

Summer Reading Club

Summer reading club was a fun time for children to enjoy the library while the school was closed. We are happy to say that the Reading Club went well. Teachers and students all had a good time reading and listening to stories together. We always encourage our students to read books; it is one way to gain knowledge and joy for life.

গ্রীষ্মকালীন পঠন ক্লাব

বন্ধের ছুটিতে বই পড়টা ছেলেমেয়েদের জন্য মজার ছিল। আমরা আনন্দের সাথে জানাই যে পঠন ক্লাব ভালমতো সম্পন্ন হয়েছিল। শিক্ষক এবং শিক্ষার্থী সবার জন্যই গল্প পড়া এবং শোনার সময়টা ভালো ছিল। আমরা আমাদের ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের সব সময় বই পড়ার জন্য উৎসাহ দেই; জীবনের জন্য আনন্দ এবং জ্ঞান আহরণ করার এটি একটি উত্তম উপায়।

Standing Beside Flood Affected People

You are probably aware that different parts of our country were inundated with water due to heavy rainfall and run off water from India.  Our neighboring districts, Nilphamari and Kurigram were also badly affected. We are very proud of Uncle John, Uncle Janata, Uncle Rotan and Uncle Sunil for their willingness to represent LAMB School and to stand beside the flood-affected people. They worked with LAMB DRR team to support relief distribution work for few days.

বন্যাকবলিত মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানো

আপনারা হয়তো অবগত আছেন যে আমাদের দেশের বিভিন্ন অংশ ভারী বর্ষন এবং ভারত থেকে আসা পানি দ্বারা ডুবে গেছে। আমাদের পার্শ্ববর্তী জেলা, নীলফামারী ও কুড়িগ্রামও এর দ্বারা খুব খারাপভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়েছিল। আমরা আংকেল জন, আংকেল জনতা, আংকেল রতন এবং আংকেল সুনীল এর জন্য গর্বিত যে তারা ল্যাম্ব স্কুলকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করার এবং বন্যাদূর্গত মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর জন্য। ত্রাণ সামগ্রীগুলি সরবরাহের জন্য তারা কয়েক দিন LAMB DRR টিমের সাথে কাজ করেছিল।

March 2019 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Life is full of choices.  Some choices are easy to make while others are harder, especially when people around you pressure you to do something or when so many options are kept in front and you are muddled about a choice. It is important to choose right thing for our children in their journey. What might help us to make fair choices for them? Proverbs 2:11 says “Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe”. We should help our children learn how to have His wisdom in their thinking to keep them safe and happy. We are very happy to have you, the parents, with us teaching wisdom alongside academic development.

জীবন বিভিন্ন পছন্দ মনোনয়ন-এ পরিপূর্ণ। কিছু পছন্দ মনোনয়ন খুব সহজ আবার কিছুগুলি তুলনামূলক কঠিন, বিশেষ করে যখন আপনার আশেপাশের মানুষগুলো আপনাকে কিছু করার জন্য চাপ প্রয়োগ করে বা যখন অনেকগুলো নির্বাচনের বিষয় আপনার সামনে রাখা থাকে এবং আপনাকে এই পছন্দের মাঝখান থেকে নির্বাচন করতে হয়। আমাদের সন্তানদের জীবনের জন্য সঠিক বিষয়টি নির্বাচন করাটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। তাদের জীবনের জন্য কি আমাদের সঠিক সিদ্ধান্তগুলো নিতে সাহায্য করে?  

হিতোপদেশ ২:১১ পদ বলে “বিবেচনা শক্তি তোমাকে পাহারা দেবে। প্রজ্ঞা তোমাকে রক্ষা করবে”। আমাদের দায়িত্ব হোল আমাদের সন্তানদের ঈশ্বরীয় প্রজ্ঞা শিখতে সাহায্য করা যেন তাদের চিন্তা তাদের রক্ষা করে এবং সুখী করে। আমাদের একাডেমিক শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি ছেলেমেয়েদের প্রজ্ঞা শিক্ষাদান করার জন্য অভিভাবকদের ধন্যবাদ।  

Study Tours

In February our staff and students travelled in 3 groups for study tours.  The PS to G1 visited a pottery and a ruler factory in Parbatipur.  G2-4 visited some geographical locations inside Swapnapuri near Phulbari.  G5-10 enjoyed their time learning about coal extraction in Boropukuria, seeing a biogas plantation in Habra and exploring a SAL forest in Panchpukur. Many people worked together in teams to make these events successful. We are grateful to God for safety.  We are grateful for good cooperation and participation from our students.

শিক্ষা-সফর

ফেব্রুয়ারীতে আমাদের ষ্টাফবৃন্দ ও শিক্ষার্থীগণ ৩ দলে বিভক্ত হয়ে শিক্ষা-সফরে গিয়েছিলেন। প্রি-স্কুল হতে গ্রেড ১-এর শিক্ষার্থীরা স্থানীয়  কুমোরপাড়া ও  স্কেল ফ্যাক্টরী পরিদর্শনে  গিয়েছিল  গ্রেড ২-৪ এর শিক্ষার্থীরা   ফুলবাড়ীর কাছে স্বপ্নপুরির ভিতরে কিছু ভৌগলিক এলাকা পরিদর্শনে গিয়েছিল ।  গ্রেড ৫-১০ এর শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের সফরে বড়পুকুরিয়ার কয়লাখনিতে কয়লা উত্তোলন সর্ম্পকে শিখেছিল, হাবড়ার বায়োগ্যাস প্লানটেশন পরির্দশন এবং পাচঁপুকুরে শালবন অনুসন্ধানমূলক ভ্রমণ করেছিল। এই কার্যক্রমগুলোকে সাফল্যমণ্ডিত করতে অনেক লোক এক সাথে দলে কাজ করেছিল। ঈশ্বরের কাছে আমরা আমাদের নিরাপদ যাত্রা এবং কার্যক্রমগুলোর জন্য কৃতজ্ঞ। আমাদের ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের সহযোগিতা ও তাদের স্বঃস্থর্ফূত অংশগ্রহণের জন্য আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ।

Parent Teacher Meetings
Our current focus is on the parent-teacher meetings. We start on 6th March with KG and G2 from 1:40pm followed by PS and G6 on 11th and G1 and G3 on 13th March 2019.  We look forward to hearing from parents so we can continue to work together to help create the best possible circumstances for your children’s growth and learning. Your input is important for us as we seek to teach your children.  Please be reminded that on the day your children have parent meetings they will finish their classes at 1PM, there are no afternoon classes for those grades.   

শিক্ষক-অভিভাবক সাক্ষাৎকার

আমাদের বর্তমান লক্ষ্য হচ্ছে আসছে শিক্ষক-অভিভাবক সাক্ষাৎকারগুলো । আমরা ০৬  মার্চদুপুর ১:৪০ টা থেকে কেজি এবং গ্রেড  ২ এর মাধ্যমে শুরু করতে যাচ্ছি  একই ভাবে প্রি-স্কুল এবং গ্রেড ৬ এর১১ মার্চ এবং গ্রেড ১ ও গ্রেড ৩ এর সাক্ষাৎকারগুলো, ১৩ মার্চ ২০১৯ এ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।  আমরা আপনাদের (অভিভাবকবৃন্দের) কাছ থেকে  সন্তানদের বিষয়ে শোনার জন্য সানন্দে প্রতীক্ষা করছি, যেন আমরা সকলে মিলে একত্রে আপনাদের সন্তানদের বেড়ে ওঠার এবং শিক্ষার সম্ভাব্য সবচেয়ে ভালো পারিপার্শ্বিক অবস্থার সৃষ্টি করতে পারি।  আপনাদের সন্তানদের শিক্ষাদান কার্যেআপনা্দের মতামত আমাদের কাছে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। অনুগ্রহ করে স্মরণে রাখবেন যে, আপনার সন্তানের যেদিন অভিভাবক সাক্ষাৎকার থাকবে সেদিন দুপুর ১ টায় তাদের ক্লাস শেষ হবে, এই শ্রেণীরগুলোর বিকেল বেলা কোন  ক্লাস নেই।

AGM

Our annual general meeting this year will be held in the school auditorium on Wednesday, 3 April 2019, 5pm. All parents and school staff are requested to come hear about the year that has gone by, and give input for the next year. You will be reminded again in April’s newsletter.

এজিএম (বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভা)

আমাদের বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভা  ৩ এপ্রিল ২০১৯ রোজ বুধবার বিকাল ৫ ঘটিকায় স্কুল অডিটোরিয়ামে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এ সভায় সকল অভিভাবক এবং স্টাফগণকে পরবর্তী বছরের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মতামত এবং বিগত বছরের  ঘটনাবলি শোনার জন্য সাদরে আমন্ত্রণ জানালো হলো। এপ্রিলের নিউজলেটারের মাধ্যমেও আপনাদেরকে স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়া হবে।

Calendar

Please note that LAMB school will remain closed on 17th March, Sunday on the occasion of Sheikh Mujib’s birthday.  We hope the students enjoyed this short break.  Note that this year LAMB school will be planning special activities for Independence Day, 26th March 2019.

বর্ষপঞ্জিকা

অনুগ্রহ করে লক্ষ্য করুন, ল্যাম্ব স্কুল ১৭ মার্চ, রোজ  রবিরার বঙ্গবন্ধুর জম্মদিন উপলক্ষ্যে বন্ধ থাকবে। আমরা আশা করছি যে ছেলেমেয়েরা  ছোট বিরতি ছুটিউপভোগ করবে। উল্লেখ্য যে, এই বছর ল্যাম্ব স্কুল স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে ২৬ মার্চ ২০১৯ তারিখে বিশেষ কার্যক্রম পরিকল্পনা করতে যাচ্ছে।

Admissions

During the month of March we will accept admission applications until 31st March 2019 for new children who want to enroll in preschool in August 2019.  Applications are open for both staff and non-staff children.  Staff children who fill in admission application forms will have priority. Children must be 4 years old by 31st July 2019 to register.  Applications for other grades can also be submitted and will be considered if space is available.

ভর্তি

মার্চ ২০১৯ সনে প্রিস্কুলে ভর্তি ইচ্ছুক ছেলেমেয়েদের ভর্তির আবেদনপত্র ৩১ শে মার্চ পর্যন্ত বিতরণ এবং গ্রহণ করা হবে । ষ্টাফ এবং ননষ্টাফ উভয় ছেলেমেয়েদের জন্য ভর্তি উন্মুক্ত আছে। যে সকল স্টাফ তাদের সন্তানদের জন্য ফর্ম সংগ্রহ করে জমা দিবেন ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে তারা অগ্রাধিকার পাবেন। ভর্তিচ্ছুক ছেলেমেয়ের বয়স ৩১ শে জুলাই ২০১৯ এর মধ্যে ৪ বছর পূর্ণ হতে হবে। অন্যান্য শ্রেণিতে ভর্তির ফরমও পূরণ করা যাবে, সিট খালি থাকার প্ররিপ্রেক্ষিতে অন্যান্য গ্রেডে ভর্তি করা যেতে পারে।    

Picking up students after school

This is a kind reminder that school is not responsible to look after students once school ends at 3:30pm.  It has been noticed that some children are being left unsupervised.  Please arrange to have your children taken home as soon as school ends for the safety of the children. Thank you very much for your understanding in this regard.  LAMB allows children to return to play after 5pm if guardians are there to supervise them.

স্কুলের পরে ছেলেমেয়দের নিয়ে যাওয়া

এটি আপনাদের কাছে আমাদের একটি বিনীত অনুস্মারক যে স্কুল শেষ হওয়ার পরে ৩:৩০ অপরাহ্নের পর থেকে  শিক্ষার্থীদের দেখাশোনা করার দায়িত্ব স্কুলের ওপর বর্তায় না। এটা লক্ষ্য করা গেছে যে কিছু ছেলেমেয়ে স্কুল শেষে বিনা তত্ত্বাবধানে থাকছে। আপনাদের ছেলেমেয়ের নিরাপত্তার স্বার্থে অনুগ্রহ করে স্কুল শেষ হবার পরপরই ছেলেমেয়দের নিয়ে যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করুন। বিষয়টি বোঝার জন্য আপনাদের অনেক ধন্যবাদ। অভিভাবকরা তত্ত্বাবধানে থাকাকালীন শিশুরা ৫:০০ টা পরে খেলতে ফিরে আসতে পারে।

October Newsletter 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

There is an interesting Chinese proverb that talks about education:  “If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade plant trees; if you are planning for lifetime, educate people.”

Here in the country of Bangladesh we value the yearly crops and we pray for all those still recovering from the effects of flooding in the area.  We are also grateful for trees and the gift they are to our neighbourhoods. Even more we believe that time spent investing in the growth and development of children and young people, will reward our society for years to come. 

প্রিয় অভিভাবক ও শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ,  

শিক্ষা বিষয়ে একটি চমকপ্রদ চাইনিজ প্রবাদ প্রচলিত আছেঃ “যদি আপনি এক বছরের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন, তবে ধানের বীজ বপন করুন; যদি আপনি এক দশকের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন তবে বৃক্ষ রোপণ করুন; যদি আপনি জীবনকালের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন, তবে শিক্ষিত মানুষ গড়ে তুলুন।”

বাংলাদেশে আমরা বাৎসরিক ফসলে গুরুত্ব দান করি এবং এখনও যারা বন্যার প্রভাব থেকে সেরে উঠছে তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করি।   
আমরা গাছপালা এবং তারা যে আমাদের পারিপার্শ্বিক পরিবেশের উপহারস্বরূপ তার জন্য কৃতজ্ঞ। এমনকি আমরা আরও বিশ্বাস করি যে শিশু এবং যুবক ছেলেমেয়েদের বিকাশ ও উন্নয়নে বিনিয়োগকৃত সময় আমাদের আগামী দিনগুলোকে আলোকিত করবে।

June's Newsletter

Dear Students and Parents,

It is time for me to say thank you for another semester at LAMB. Life here is fast and through all that happen we see God’s blessings. I hope you all see them too. I pray that God will be with you during exam week and then a month of well-deserved rest.

Admission

We have more families wanting to enrol their children in the school than last year and will again have to turn some away. Pray for all the families and the children’s educational needs.

Registration fees and Yearly fees

Please note that registration fees will be charged in June. Non-staff parents must pay Yearly fees by 30 June 2007. See last month’s newsletter for details.

Teacher Training

Mr. Bimal Roy spent a week in Dhaka learning about management to develop managerial skills; such as, motivating staff, effective team building, leadership, problem solving and decision making, delegation, staff development etc.

Ms. Lucky Marandy went to Dhaka with a group from LAMB to learn about child protection. This is one step towards ensuring a safer environment for all the children that LAMB comes into contact with.

Teachers

Please pray for visas for Quynh Parlane and for Heather Powel. Give thanks to God for a new work permit for Heather.

Christian will be on home leave until September 2007.

Exams

Grades 1 through 7 have exams from 10 to 14 June. Please pray for the children as they prepare for these tests. A schedule is printed on the back.

The children in preschool and Kindergarten will have classes as usual.

Newsletter April 2007

Dear Students and Parents,

March has been a busy month. Nearly every week has had its own schedule. The teachers and students have had to show great flexibility as they adjusted to not only new schedules, but also new classes.

Thank you all for your willingness to take up new and extra challenges.

Groundbreaking

On 18 March we officially started building the new Science lab. Thank you to all who participated and join us as we give praise and glory to God for making this next step possible.

Things go missing

We wish to thank whoever returned three envelopes containing little teaching aids for Maths. We hope and pray that the parents, with the help of God, will be able to teach their children not to steal again.

Teacher Training

On 23 March five teachers went to Lalmonirhat to train 32 teachers. We are proud to be able to share some of the blessings we have here with more teachers and thereby with more children in Bangladesh.

Teachers

We welcome Tarcisius Hasdak who started teaching on the 15 March. We are pleased to have him with us. Tarcisius has many years of experience teaching in Dinajpur and we look forward to having him work with us here.

Aunty Quynh left to go on home assignment on 1 March. We hope to have the whole Parlane family back in time for the new school year on 1 August.

Aunty April who had come to visit the Parlane family left with them on 1 March.

Shaun Hutson’s last day teaching Science and Maths at the school was 21 March. We thank him for his work here.

Easter and Eid-E-Miladun-Nabi

The school will be closed for Eid-E-Miladun-Nabi and Easter from 30 March. The first day of school in April will be Tuesday, 10 April 2007.

Competition

The winners of the competition in March are Protic and Suborna.
