October Newsletter 2017

Dear Parents and Students,

There is an interesting Chinese proverb that talks about education:  “If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade plant trees; if you are planning for lifetime, educate people.”

Here in the country of Bangladesh we value the yearly crops and we pray for all those still recovering from the effects of flooding in the area.  We are also grateful for trees and the gift they are to our neighbourhoods. Even more we believe that time spent investing in the growth and development of children and young people, will reward our society for years to come. 

প্রিয় অভিভাবক ও শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ,  

শিক্ষা বিষয়ে একটি চমকপ্রদ চাইনিজ প্রবাদ প্রচলিত আছেঃ “যদি আপনি এক বছরের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন, তবে ধানের বীজ বপন করুন; যদি আপনি এক দশকের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন তবে বৃক্ষ রোপণ করুন; যদি আপনি জীবনকালের জন্য পরিকল্পনা করেন, তবে শিক্ষিত মানুষ গড়ে তুলুন।”

বাংলাদেশে আমরা বাৎসরিক ফসলে গুরুত্ব দান করি এবং এখনও যারা বন্যার প্রভাব থেকে সেরে উঠছে তাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করি।   
আমরা গাছপালা এবং তারা যে আমাদের পারিপার্শ্বিক পরিবেশের উপহারস্বরূপ তার জন্য কৃতজ্ঞ। এমনকি আমরা আরও বিশ্বাস করি যে শিশু এবং যুবক ছেলেমেয়েদের বিকাশ ও উন্নয়নে বিনিয়োগকৃত সময় আমাদের আগামী দিনগুলোকে আলোকিত করবে।

Parent Teacher Meeting with G3

Thank you to all the parents who made an effort to come to our parent-teacher meetings this month.  We are also grateful for all the staff who worked to make these meetings a success. One of our values at LAMB school is that we believe the family is the main unit created by God through which children’s characters are shaped.  We therefore, value the unity and integrity of each family.  As staff, it is a privilege to work with you, on behalf of your children.

শিক্ষক-অভিভাবক সভা

ধন্যবাদ জানাই সেই সকল অভিভাবকদের যারা এই শিক্ষক-অভিভাবক সভায় আসার জন্য সময় বের করে নিয়েছেন। আমরা আরও কৃতজ্ঞ সকল স্টাফদের কাছে, যারা এ সভাগুলো সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন হতে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করেছেন। ল্যাম্ব স্কুলের অন্যান্য মূল্যবোধের মধ্যে একটি মূল্যবোধ হচ্ছে পরিবারকে নিয়ে এবং আমরা বিশ্বাস করি যে,  পরিবার হচ্ছে ঈশ্বরের সৃষ্ট প্রধান একক যেখানে ছেলেময়েদের চরিত্র গঠিত হয়। এ কারণে আমরা পরিবারের একাত্বতা ও অখন্ডতাকে মূল্যায়িত করি। একজন স্টাফ হিসেবে আপনার সন্তানদের জন্য আপনাদের সাথে কাজ করতে পারাটা আমাদের জন্য সম্মানের।

Holidays

Please note that due to the occasions of Durga Puja and Muharram (Ashura) the school will remain closed from 27 September, Wednesday to 2 October, Monday. Classes will resume on 3 October, Tuesday. We wish you greetings on the occasions of Durga Puja and Muharram Ashura.  

ছুটি

আপনাদের অবগতির জন্য জানানো যাচ্ছে যে, শারদীয় দূর্গাপূজা এবং মহরম (আশুরা) উপলক্ষে আগামী ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর রোজ বুধবার হতে ২রা অক্টোবর রোজ সোমবার ২০১৭ ইং পর্যন্ত স্কুল বন্ধ থাকবে। ৩রা অক্টোবর রোজ মঙ্গলবার ২০১৭ ইং হতে যথারীতি ক্লাশ শুরু হবে। আসন্ন শারদীয় দূর্গাপূজা এবং মহরম (আশুরা) উপলক্ষে আপনাদের সকলের প্রতি আমাদের পক্ষ থেকে শুভেচ্ছা রইল।

Mock Tests - Students taking PSC in G5 & G6

We have received information that mock tests for PSC will be held at Rajabashor School from 8 to 14 October.  The times of these tests are 11 – 1:30. Please note that mock tests are practise tests and that regular classes continue before and after the tests every day for G6 (Lessons 1 & 2 (8:40 to 10:15) and Lesson 7 2:25-3:15).  Regular classes continue all day for G5, although we understand that some G5 students will be absent during part of the day.  

Final schedules for both PSC final exams and JSC final exams have been received and will be given to the students participating in these.

When the G6 students sit for PSC tests each year from our school all classes are cancelled for those days for G6. Some G5 students also decide to sit for the tests but we do not cancel their classes.  There are a significant number of days these students miss their classes and this does cause them to struggle academically in the English National Curriculum system at our school. We encourage you all to think about this and make decisions next year, being fully aware of the options open to your child.  In the end it is your decision what year your child sits the PSC and JSC tests.

মডেল টেষ্ট- গ্রেড ৫ ও ৬ পিএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের জন্য

আমরা তথ্য পেয়েছি যে পিএসসি মডেল টেস্ট পরীক্ষা ৮ থেকে ১৪ অক্টোবর পর্যন্ত রাজাবাসর স্কুলে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। পরীক্ষাগুলোর সময় ১১:০০-১:৩০টা। অনুগ্রহ করে স্মরণে রাখুন যে, মডেল টেষ্টগুলো অনুশীলন পরীক্ষা এবং এই পরীক্ষার সময়ের পূর্বের এবং পরের নির্ধারিত গ্রেড ৬-এর ১ম, ২য়, (৮:৪০- ১০:১৫টা) এবং ৭ম (২:২৫-৩:১৫টা) ক্লাশগুলো প্রতিদিন চলবে। গ্রেড ৫ এর ক্লাশগুলো যথারীতি চলবে, যদিও আমরা জানি যে পরীক্ষার সময়টুকুতে তারা অনুপস্থিত থাকবে।

আমরা পিএসসি এবং জেএসসি দুইটি ফাইনাল পরীক্ষারই  রুটিন পেয়েছি এবং যে সকল ছাত্র-ছাত্রী এতে অংশগ্রহণ করছে তাদের এই রুটিন দেওয়া হবে।  

আমাদের স্কুল থেকে প্রতিবছর যে দিনগুলিতে গ্রেড ৬ এর শিক্ষার্থীরা পিএসসি পরীক্ষায় বসে উক্ত দিনগুলিতে গ্রেড ৬ এর সকল ক্লাশ বন্ধ থাকে। কিছু সংখ্যক গ্রেড ৫ শিক্ষার্থীও এই পরীক্ষায় অংশগ্রহণ করে থাকে কিন্তু আমরা তাদের ক্লাশগুলো বাতিল করি না। এই সকল শিক্ষার্থী উল্লেখযোগ্য সংখ্যক দিন তাদের ক্লাশ মিস করে আর এ কারণে এই সকল শিক্ষার্থী আমাদের স্কুলের ইংরেজি ন্যাশনাল কারিকুলামে পিছিয়ে পড়ে। এ কারণে আমরা আপনাদের উৎসাহিত করি যখন আপনারা পরের বছর সিদ্ধান্ত নেন তখন যে বিকল্প ইচ্ছা গুলো আপনার সন্তানের জন্য খোলা আছে তা পুরোপুরি জেনে সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। সব শেষে এটি একান্তই আপনাদের সিদ্ধান্ত কোন বছরে আপনাদের সন্তান পিএসসি এবং জেএসসি পরীক্ষায় বসবে।

If your child has any medical condition, on-going medications or other special needs, please let us know.    We want to help provide a safe and healthy environment for your child to live, grow and learn.

মেডিকেল চাহিদা

যদি আপনার সন্তানের স্বাস্থ্য বিষয়ক কোন সমস্যা থাকে, বর্তমানে সে স্বাস্থ্য জনিত কারণে ঔষধ সেবন করছে বা চিকিৎসা নিচ্ছে অথবা অন্যান্য কিছুর বিশেষ প্রয়োজন থেকে থাকলে অনুগ্রহ করে বিষয়টি আমাদের জানাবেন। আমরা আপনার সন্তানের জন্য নিরাপদ এবং স্বাস্থ্যকর একটি পরিবেশ দিতে চাই যাতে সে সেই পরিবেশে ভালোভাবে বড় হতে এবং শিখতে পারে।

School Advisory Committee

Our next School Advisory Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, 4 October, from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. If parents have issues they wish for us to discuss, please speak to a member of the committee.  Parents on the committee include: Mrs Flora Pahan, Mr Xaver Ambauen, Mrs Shamima Nasrin Rosy and Mrs Shirajum Munira.  You may also talk to any of the Heads.

স্কুল উপদেষ্টা কমিটি

আমাদের স্কুল উপদেষ্টা কমিটির পরবর্তী মিটিং ৪ঠা অক্টোবর ২০১৭ ইং রোজ বুধবার বিকাল ৪:৩০ হতে ৫:৩০ টা পর্যন্ত অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। অভিভাবকদের যদি কোন বিষয় থেকে থাকে যেন আমরা সেটা আলোচনা করি তবে কমিটির একজন সদস্যের সাথে কথা বলুন। কমিটিতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত অভিভাবকঃ মিসেস ফ্লোরা পাহান, মিঃ সাবের অ্যাম্বুয়ান, মিসেস শামীমা নাসরিন রোজি এবং মিসেস শিরাজুম মুনিরা। আপনারা চাইলে যে কোন স্কুল প্রধানের সাথেও কথা বলতে পারেন।

Motorcycles use near school

As was mentioned in our Parent-teacher meetings if motorcycles are used to pick students up at lunch time or after school at 3:30, we kindly request all drivers to stop their motorcycles before the metal posts beside maintenance.  We request this for the safety of all students.  We remind you that student-size helmets are available for lease, for use with motorcycles or cycles, from the school office, for a small deposit.

স্কুলের নিকটবর্তীতে মোটরসাইকেল ব্যবহার

শিক্ষক-অভিভাবক সভায় যেভাবে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছিল, যদি দুপুরের খাবার সময় বা স্কুল শেষে বিকেল ৩:৩০ মিনিটে শিক্ষার্থীদের নিতে মটরসাইকেল ব্যবহার করেন, আমরা সব চালকদেরক অনুরোধ করছি যেন তারা অনুগ্রহ করে মটরসাইকেলগুলো মেইনটেন্যান্সের পাশে মেটাল পোস্টের আগে থামান। আমরা সব ছাত্রছাত্রীদের নিরাপত্তার জন্য এই অনুরোধ করছি। আমরা আপনাদের স্মরণ করিয়ে দিতে চাই যে শিক্ষার্থী-সাইজের যথেষ্ট হেলমেট যা মোটরসাইকেলে বা সাইকেলে চড়ার সময় ব্যবহারের জন্য স্কুল থেকে ক্ষুদ্র আমানতের মাধ্যমে লিজ হিসেবে পাওয়া যাবে।
